 Hinsdale Central High School


Dr. Mark Kolkman - Principal

The school is 17 miles west of Chicago and serves a suburban residential area of approximately 35,000 people. Students live in Hinsdale and sections of Clarendon Hills, Darien, Oak Brook, Burr Ridge, Willowbrook, and Westmont.

Hinsdale Central High School is the older and larger of two four year senior high schools in District 86. Enrollment at Central is approximately 2800 students with about 600 seniors. Over 99% of Central's students complete high school with 88% pursuing a four year college education, 8% continuing at two year colleges and 4% entering other opportunities. Central is a member The College Board and NACAC/IACAC.

 Hinsdale South High School

The school is 20 miles southwest of Chicago and serves a suburban residential area of approximately 30,000 people. Students live in Darien, and sections of Burr Ridge, Westmont, Willowbrook, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove and Hinsdale.

Hinsdale South High School is one of two 4-year comprehensive high schools in Hinsdale School District 86. Enrollment at South is approximately 1,700 students with about 460 seniors. Over 93% of South's students complete high school with 63% pursuing a four year college education, 33% continuing at two year colleges and 4% entering other opportunities. Hinsdale South is a member of The College Board and NACAC/IACAC.

The center is located  between Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South at Rt 83 and 63rd Street in Willowbrook. Young adults at the Transition Center are a blend of students from the Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South High School communities. 

The Adult Opportunities Program located in the Transition Center provides life and vocational skills instruction to young adults with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 22.  The main focus of the Adult Opportunities Program is to promote opportunities for independence in employment, post-secondary education and training, independent living skills, and community experiences.
