Hi,my name is George McGuire and I am a science teacher at Hinsdale South High School in Darien,IL. I have taught physics,chemistry, geology and math in various high schools and colleges for over 32 years.

I am happily married with three wonderful children and an equally wonderful wife. If you round out the household with a dog and two cats, you have the sum total of my household.

I received both my bachelors and masters of science degrees from Western Illinois University;a place I have stayed in close contact with over the years because my son, Joshua graduated from there in May of 2000 after quite a successful career as a drum major with the marching band and a choral music student. He is now a successful choral director for the Sachse School system in Plano, Texas.

My daughter Katy  returned from Iraq where she did a tour of duty as a military policeman outside of Umh Kasar. She has returned to her job working for NASA security in California at Moffett Field. She is activily captaining two softball teams and playing in the rocks in her off road jeep.

My youngest daughter, Kelsey is a senior at Minooka High School where she is attempting to set the world on fire as a drama and choral student.Her plans include going to school at Western Illinois and enjoying her senior year and new job as much as she can.

My philosophy of teaching is one of hands on, reality based problems. That essentially means that linking previous learning, new ideas, hands on activities and enthusiasm to each other for a positive experience. It usually works and I have made a life's work of doing just that.
