Linear motion--the study of movement in a straight line is where we begin our exploration of motion.  Since linear motion is only 1-Dimensional, we can begin laying our foundation for understanding all types of movement in many dimensions, eventually moving to 2 and then 3 Dimensions.  Enjoy your studies of linear motion whether it be investigating Olympic sprinters winning the 100 m dash, finding your dream car by checking out Car & Driver's 0-60 showdown, or understanding the beauty and symmetry of a football tossed in free fall--linear motion is the key that unlocks our fundamental understanding of all types of motion!

Cool Lab Links:

Thunderbird Super Coupe Club of Iowa

This is a collection of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times that have been accumulated from many different sources over the years. These sources all include vehicle testing done by "the experts" at Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Road & Track, various written auto publications and from the auto manufacturers themselves. Our club does not do any of the actual testing of the cars, we just post the results that we find from the above mentioned sources.
