Teachers' Domain, Quarks: Inside the Atom, published February 20, 2004, retrieved on October 15, 2008

If you've ever looked at the Periodic Table of the Elements, it's hard to believe that the entire Universe is made up of little tiny particles we call quarks, protons, neutrons, and electrons--a giant, Cosmic, God-sized "Lego" set if you will.  Our study of the atomic nature of matter and how this model has evolved over the course of time is something you can appreciate every time you drive safely in the winter time on roads that have been treated with de-icing salts, take a swig of your favorite sports drink, munch on your favorite snack food, or take a spin in your new car full of high-tech safety features.  Enjoy your study of the mighty little atom!
