Our
eyes and sense of vision are things we often take for granted--it has been
estimated that as much as 1/3 of our brain's processing power is devoted to visual
processing! In these activities, we will be exploring the fundamental
properties of light, how our eyes perceive and process light, as well as how we
can build optical instruments to enhance our ability to communicate and
"see" the world around us!
Post-It Pointillist Project
Using
ordinary Post-Its, a garage door, and some creative videography, Joe L.,
Sam C., Cortney S., & Jeff L. put on an artistic tour de force taking
into account the resolving power of the human eye and our amazing sense
of visual perception!
Using the same techniques as the great pointillist painters and
tricks of the trade used in modern printing presses, these 4 intrepid
physics students show the seeing is truly in the eye of the beholder!
