Cheerleader Expectations 2006-2007    

Cheerleaders are expected to arrange all family and college commitments around the cheerleading schedule. All cheerleaders must attend all scheduled practices and games. Cheerleaders will be permitted one absence from a game. Cheerleaders must speak to their coaches ahead of time about any absences during the month of January. It is important that all cheerleaders be at all games as cheerleading is not a sport where we can easily substitute team members into stunts.

Similar to last year, the Basketball Cheerleaders will be doing team activities during the summer. Summer practices will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays (possibly) and Thursdays from 4:00 -5:30p.m. beginning on June 13^th. Summer camp will be at Northern Illinois University, July 8 – 11. Costs for the summer program could be as much as $450.

Winter practices are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with additional practices schedules in January for Pack the Place. Games are normally Tuesdays, Fridays and/or Saturdays. If you are selected as a member of the Hinsdale Basketball Cheerleading Squad, you are expected to be at every cheerleading related event. We are a team and thus everyone is expected to act as one. Any member who is unexcused from a practice or cheerleading event will face disciplinary action from the coaches. Practices will begin in late October.

Academics are to be taken very seriously. A cheerleader will risk her eligibility for cheering if she has one (1) grade lower than a “C” in any class. Cheerleaders are strongly encouraged to seek additional assistance from their teachers during the off times we are providing.

Upon being named a Hinsdale Central cheerleader, the Athletic Code goes into effect immediately.

Any student who can not meet the above expectations and commitment should not tryout for the Hinsdale Central Cheerleading Squad. Anyone who makes the squad and fails to keep her commitment will be dismissed from the squad.
