Seal of Biliteracy

The first testing round for the Seal of Biliteracy for the Class of 2027 is Friday,  Oct. 9. The second round will be on a Saturday in February.

Click HERE to register.

What languages are available for testing on the above dates?
American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

What if the language I speak is not listed above?
Any seniors who speak languages at home other than those listed above should also complete the registration form to initiate the request for language testing. While we cannot guarantee that there is an Illinois-approved test for languages not included in the list above, we are usually able to accommodate most requests.

What if I've already taken the AP exam for my language?
Students who earned a 4 or 5 on their world language AP exam and earned an 18 or higher on the ELA portion of the ACT automatically qualify for the Seal and therefore do not need to take the Saturday Seal of Biliteracy exam.

Please read below about the Seal of Biliteracy program as well as access preparation information in the linked handout.
