D86 Assessment Information

SAT Suite of Assessments

In 2018 the College Board was awarded a three-year contract to the state of Illinois to provide a suite of assessments designed to measure student achievement in ELA and Mathematics.  This assessment series begins with the PSAT9 and culminates with the SAT. District 86 will provide all students with an opportunity to take a fall and spring PSAT/SAT assessment (see schedule below). The SAT is a nationally recognized college entrance exam and can be used for student application or admissions consideration to all colleges and universities in the United States.  PSAT/SAT assessments will be administered during the school day, and an alternate schedule will be communicated to families. District 86 teachers, counselors, interventionists, and administrators will review student growth from fall to spring in order to make course recommendations as well as to suggest intervention and enrichment opportunities.

SAT /PSAT Assessment Dates

The SY 22-23 dates will appear here once they are determined. More information about the SAT Suite of Assessments can be found at: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/

Illinois Science Assessment (ISA)

As per State mandate, all District 86 juniors must take the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA).  This State accountability test is designed to assess student mastery of the Next Generation Science Standards. In SY 21-22 all juniors will take the ISA on Thursday, April 14, 2022.

If you have questions about this new Illinois exam, ISBE created a parent FAQ document that can be found here: https://www.isbe.net/Documents/ISA-Parent-Letter-English-Spanish.pdf

Advanced Placement Testing (AP)

During the first two weeks of May, AP tests in all content areas are administered at Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South. Students enrolled in AP classes receive specific registration and testing information from their instructor, and parents/guardians receive AP information from their school's counseling office.  District 86 offers 30 Advanced Placement courses for students to choose from.  For more information about AP tests, or about specific AP courses, please visit: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/
