Metrics That Matter Most

A focused set of data points that enable us to drive powerful progress for our students.

Together, we have identified a set of data points—primarily from the Illinois Report Card—that highlight what we believe are the most important areas to focus on in District 86. These are the metrics that matter most—the measures we believe will meaningfully improve student success and day-to-day experience. While every measure is important, we’ve zeroed in on the data points that give us the clearest picture of what matters for students and our schools.

These metrics that matter most describe where we will focus. We will align our resources, strategies, and efforts towards them. By focusing on them and keeping them at the forefront, we aim to drive powerful progress for our students.

Over time, we will add metrics that matter most to this list—for operations, for staff, for our Transition Center, and for the non-academic side of our house, because all those areas provide critical support to those in our school buildings. And as we learn more—including about new state assessments and accountability frameworks—we’ll make updates.

We know schools and school districts are more than just numbers, just as students are more than their age, GPA, or test scores. The relationships between people—students, staff, families, and community—is what makes District 86 so strong. Nurturing those relationships, and seeing people as more than just numbers, is foundational to our efforts to improve these metrics that matter most.
